Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens - Signage

The Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens is an 118 acre wooded jewel in Jacksonville, Florida’s busy Arlington area. I’ve helped them with their identity, stationery and collateral, web presence and newsletter email to inform the public of their mission and their volunteers of the next event.

One of the primary tenets of the Arboretum is education. At various points along the trails, visitors will come across these educational signs. Their subject is generally relevant to their placement and informs about a certain plant, animal or ecological feature.

Due to usually working in pixels, the size of these signs made the design a wee bit of a challenge. As with most things, if you ask the printer, they’ll set you right. The production company was helpful in assuring that the font size was large enough. Keeping the grid flexible enough to handle large amounts of either text or images was very helpful.
