Sketching at Starbucks

I’m not much for Starbucks. As a company, they creep me out. But I can’t deny that they’re popular and as such, it’s a great place to sketch.

When I need to draw thumbnails for an illustration gig, I seek inspiration and as a warm-up exercise, I’ll draw the strangers who line up for their coffee. As a challenge I allow only a cursory glance and then draw what I remember and then see if I got even close. I don’t stare, these are really quick glances. Like Starbucks, I don’t want to creep any one out.
